Some Bunny

Wes has a new show on ISA TV called "The Makeshift" where he uses common household items to make crafts. On the first episode he made a lion out of clothespins.

One of my favourite "Wes creations" is this bunny he made (instead of a Valentine's Day card) on an episode of Wong Fu Weekends.

It reminds me of a shirt my friend Mandy got me.

(Err... I am so Asian! 耶! v^_^v)

My other favourite Wes creation is, of course, the Thinking Pot aka T. Pot.

New Dogs Every Week

Image
During the Christmas break a group of volunteers are planning on taking some of the dogs out to a dog park where they can run around off leash and have fun. Most of the volunteers have been with the dogs for a long time so they each have their favourites and know which dogs would be easier to handle outside the kennels, and which dogs would get along with each other. My problem is that I walk different dogs every week, and I fall in love with all of them! Haha. In the end someone picked a dog for me. This is Charcoal, the dog I will be bringing. He can be easily recognized by his round, waggy tail! I spent this Saturday getting to know him a bit before I have to bring him out. Good thing he loves people! It was actually kind of sad at first because Charcoal was so excited to see Simon, the volunteer who usually plays with him and the one who introduced me to Charcoal. After telling me some things about Charcoal, Simon left and poor Charcoal was left following him from inside his ...

Big Buddha and Tai O

Image
Despite the late night on Saturday, we arrived in Tung Chung at 9am on Sunday, in order to avoid the tourist crowds. It paid off since we barely had to line up for the cable car up to Ngong Ping. A nice and sunny day again! :) (mostly) We opted for the standard cabin instead of the crystal cabin (with the glass floor) but the view was still pretty nice. In 20 minutes, we arrived at Ngong Ping. The view of Big Buddha from the Ngong Ping village entrance. As you can see, it was mainly sunny but a dark cloud hovered over part of the sky. We looked around some of the souvenir shops but didn't buy anything. I did take a picture outside the Fortune Cat store. Heading towards Big Buddha. When I came three years ago I didn't walk up the stairs to Big Buddha but this time we did! I think we were supposed to go up on the right side though.... We ran into the cutest roadblock ever ;) Finally arrived at the top! Looking down towards Po Lin Monastery. The...

Mid-Autumn Festival

Image
Since the daily temperature is still 28-30 degrees on average, it definitely doesn't feel like "mid autumn". However it has already gotten a bit cooler, compared to what it was like a few weeks ago. Side note: "winter" in Hong Kong is defined as when the average daily temperature is lower than 18.8 degrees Celcius.... -.-  So maybe this IS "autumn" weather haha. It's predicted that by 2050, there will be no more winters in Hong Kong. Anyway, this is the second time I've spent mid-autumn festival in Hong Kong, the first time being in 1998. I don't remember much of that experience, but I'm pretty sure at one point we all sat around outside, enjoying good food and looking at the moon, and my sisters and I got to play with lanterns :) I didn't get a lantern this year but there was definitely lots of good food and a beautiful moon! A feast at 蘭姨's house. Full moon. Getting into the spirit. I wore little "bunny ears...
