Lead By Our Noses

A couple of my friends and I decided we would go for ice cream after work today, even though it wasn't exactly ice cream weather. We had a coupon for Marble Slab so that's where we went. It was raining when we got off the bus but the good thing was no one else was at the ice cream shop! :P

The Wednesday special was that if you order a medium scoop, you get 3 free toppings as opposed to 1. I got blueberry ice cream with strawberries, Crispy Crunch pieces, and pecans. Very delicious!



Our plan was to go home after ice cream, but as we stepped out of the ice cream shop, we could smell the food from nearby restaurants. Mmmm....

And so, we decided to extend the evening with dinner at Milestones :)

We ordered the "Date Night Special" but there were 3 of us. Who was the third wheel?? Hehehe.

Appetizer: shrimp with Thai chili sauce. The sauce was really good! But this was part of the Date Night Special and we were wondering why there were an odd number of shrimp haha.



Entree: Top Sirloin Steak with garlic mash and vegetables.



Dessert: Apple Crumble. Too full by this time haha.



The pictures are poor quality because I only had my cell phone and the lighting was dim :P

So, that was my Halloween night. Our pumpkin carving contest didn't happen but I'm looking forward to the car rally on Friday!

During the Christmas break a group of volunteers are planning on taking some of the dogs out to a dog park where they can run around off leash and have fun. Most of the volunteers have been with the dogs for a long time so they each have their favourites and know which dogs would be easier to handle outside the kennels, and which dogs would get along with each other. My problem is that I walk different dogs every week, and I fall in love with all of them! Haha. In the end someone picked a dog for me. This is Charcoal, the dog I will be bringing. Big Buddha and Tai O

Despite the late night on Saturday, we arrived in Tung Chung at 9am on Sunday, in order to avoid the tourist crowds. It paid off since we barely had to line up for the cable car up to Ngong Ping. A nice and sunny day again! :) (mostly) We opted for the standard cabin instead of the crystal cabin (with the glass floor) but the view was still pretty nice. In 20 minutes, we arrived at Ngong Ping. The view of Big Buddha from the Ngong Ping village entrance. As you can see, it was mainly sunny but a dark cloud hovered over part of the sky. We looked around some of the souvenir shops but didn't buy anything. I did take a picture outside the Fortune Cat store. Heading towards Big Buddha. Mid-Autumn Festival

Since the daily temperature is still 28-30 degrees on average, it definitely doesn't feel like "mid autumn". However it has already gotten a bit cooler, compared to what it was like a few weeks ago. Side note: "winter" in Hong Kong is defined as when the average daily temperature is lower than 18.8 degrees Celcius.... -.-  So maybe this IS "autumn" weather haha. It's predicted that by 2050, there will be no more winters in Hong Kong. Anyway, this is the second time I've spent mid-autumn festival in Hong Kong, the first time being in 1998. I don't remember much of that experience, but I'm pretty sure at one point we all sat around outside, enjoying good food and looking at the moon, and my sisters and I got to play with lanterns :) I didn't get a lantern this year but there was definitely lots of good food and a beautiful moon!
